The Progress Paradox: Critical Perspectives on Development Conference will be held at Swarthmore College, PA.

Swarthmore College is located 11 miles southwest from the city of Philadelphia in the borough of Swarthmore, Pennsylvania. The college is just a 30 minute drive from Philadelphia. New York and Washington, D.C. are about two hours away.

The College is also readily accessible from Philadelphia by train. Amtrak trains from New York and Washington arrive hourly at Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station. From 30th Street Station, the SEPTA Media/Elwyn R3 rail line takes 25 minutes to reach Swarthmore ($12 round trip on weekdays).

Most of our events will be held in Science Center 101, a wheelchair-accessible lecture hall seating over 100. One of our events (“Groundwater Up” documentary screening and discussion) will be held in Kohlberg 115, also a wheelchair-accessible classroom located on the first floor of Kohlberg Hall.

Conference events will also be filmed and posted on this website at a later date.
